The province of Ontario is home Toronto the largest city in Canada and capital city Ottawa. The provincial nominee program provided by the immigration Ontario is also known as Opportunities Ontario. Applicants qualifying for this program receive the Ontario provincial nominee certificate from the Opportunities Ontario which would enable them to apply for work permit or permanent residency to Canada.
The categories under which Opportunities Ontario accepts applications are:
A: General Immigration Category
This category of nomination is driven by the employers in Ontario. This is specifically for the employers who are facing problems in finding skilled workers. In this system of, the employer would first apply to nominate foreign worker to fill the shortage of labor and eventually the foreign worker applies for a nomination for a work permit or permanent residency using the job offer from an approved Ontario employer.
B: International Student Immigration Category
Masters degree students and graduates or PhD students/PhD holders are the candidates who can apply under this category without a job offer. If the candidate is completing their bachelors/diplomas in a college/university in Canada, they also can apply under the following circumstances:
- They must have completed at least half of their education in Canada
- Must be in the last semester of their post-secondary studies
- Must have completed their studies within 2 years of the application being submitted
C: Investors Immigration Category
Opportunities Ontario gives chances to individuals as well as companies who wish to invest in Ontario and are ready to create jobs for people in the provinces. The amount of investment for companies has to be minimum of CD$3,000,000 or CD$1 million. Opportunities would accept 2500 applications from investors in 2014.
