The Global Talent visa is a UK immigration category for talented and promising people in specific sectors such as sciences, the humanities, engineering, the arts, and technology, wishing to work in the UK. The Global Talent visa replaced the Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa category in the month of February in 2020.
The Global Talent visa is an immigration category which leads to settlement after 3 years if you have been considered a Talented candidate or 5 years if you have been considered a Promise candidate. Upon completing your settlement application, and the required residency period in the UK you may be able to apply for British Citizenship.
Applying for a Global Talent visa costs a total of £608 (£456 for the endorsement application and £152 for the visa). You will incur extra fees for each dependent family member. There is also an additional cost for the Immigration Health Surcharge to be paid when applying. It costs £624 for adults and £470 for children, payable for each year of the visa requested.
For the endorsement stage, each body has different processing times but generally most will decide your application in 4-12 weeks (unless the endorsement is fast-tracked). The visa application processing times depend on where you are applying from. Applicants outside the UK enjoy a faster turnaround of 3–4 weeks. Applications within the UK take longer, around 8–10 weeks.
The Global Talent visa lasts anywhere from one year to five years. You can choose to apply for an extension before the Global Talent visa expires, provided your endorsement is intact. If the endorsing organization withdraws its endorsement, you must make a fresh application. After three to five years (depending on the endorsement) while holding the Global Talent visa.
